This past weekend, Debbie Taussig traded in her role as a personal injury attorney to don the slightly less stressful title of volunteer judge at the Boulder County High School Mock Trial 2025 Tournament. This year, the stakes were high, the arguments were fierce, and the dramatic twists could have come straight out of a legal thriller.
Held in person at the Boulder Justice Center, the tournament welcomed bright young legal minds, as they battled it out over a case that had all the makings of a true-crime podcast. The scenario? A woman named Karen Snow was accused of running over her boyfriend with an SUV and leaving him to die in the snow.
Sounds like an open-and-shut case, right?
Not so fast! As the prosecution and defense teams soon revealed, there was far more to the story. Feel free to let us know if you want all the dirty details!
A Learning Experience for Future Lawyers—and Volunteer Judges!
As a longtime advocate for justice, Debbie was thrilled to take part in this exciting event. Watching the students present their cases, cross-examine witnesses, and argue objections was nothing short of inspiring.
Beyond the gripping case details, the real heart of the event was the learning experience. Mock trials provide students with invaluable skills—public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, and, of course, mastering the all-important art of a well-timed “Objection, Your Honor!”
Supporting the Next Generation of Legal Eagles
At Debbie Taussig Law, we believe in supporting young minds and helping them grow into the future leaders. Volunteering at events like the Boulder County High School Mock Trial Tournament is just one of the ways we give back to our community.
Congratulations to all the students who participated—you made compelling arguments, delivered passionate speeches, and proved that the future of the legal profession is in great hands. And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll see some of these talented young litigators arguing a real case in the Boulder Justice Center!
