On May 1, 2025, Debbie Taussig led a powerful and peaceful Law Day rally at the Boulder County Justice Center to stand up for something that affects us all…the Rule of Law. With judges facing backlash for fair rulings, attorneys being pressured politically, and a growing distrust in the very system meant to serve the people, Law Day 2025 was more meaningful than ever.

With about 75 community members gathered at the Justice Center entrance, the event was a meaningful reminder that justice isn’t just a legal concept. It’s a shared

responsibility. Debbie opened the rally by reading the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, setting the tone for a day focused on unity, purpose, and the importance of protecting the legal system and the Constitution.

Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty delivered heartfelt remarks about what’s at stake when our justice system is under attack. His message was clear: Doing the right thing matters. He spoke about how some undocumented people in our community live in fear of deportation but emphasized that if anyone is a victim of a crime, they should not feel fear to come forward to police and seek justice for the crime.

Members of the community read quotes and snippets of the Constitution to show their support of the Rule of Law. Some community members burst out in song. The lawyers who attended the event retook the oath they initially took when they were sworn into the Colorado Bar. It was moving for all involved.

We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up, raised their voices, and stood beside us in defense of fairness, justice, and truth. Law Day 2025 was a reminder that real change starts with people who care. We’re honored to be part of that movement here in Boulder.
